Survey domestic drainage every five to ten years, and sooner if you have recurring blockages, mature trees near the run, clay pipework, or plan to extend or pave over a drain. Commercial premises with heavy loading should survey annually alongside planned jetting.
The point of periodic surveying is to catch deterioration while it is still linable. Root ingress found early is a patch; root ingress ignored for five years is a collapse.
Any property purchase is an automatic trigger, as is any recurring blockage pattern.
Keep the reports. A history of surveys is genuinely valuable evidence when selling or claiming.
