What equipment do drainage engineers use?

A properly equipped drainage van carries drain rods and a range of heads, a high-pressure water jetter with penetrating, flushing, rotating and root-cutting nozzles, an HD CCTV push-rod camera with sonde location, manhole keys, a wet vacuum, and patch lining kit for on-the-spot repairs.

Rods handle short runs and soft blockages. Jetters handle fat, silt, scale and roots. Cameras handle diagnosis. A van without all three cannot finish most jobs in one visit.

Sonde location lets the engineer trace the camera head from the surface, so a defect can be pinpointed to within a few centimetres without exploratory digging.

For commercial work, add a larger jetting unit, confined-space equipment and grease trap servicing kit.
