Blocked Sink & Basin Unblocking

Standing water in the sink? We're your fastest way out.

Kitchen and bathroom sinks block because fat, hair, soap scum and food waste form a plug in the trap or the horizontal run to the stack. We remove the blockage safely — without dumping caustic chemicals into your pipework — and give you honest advice on preventing it from happening again.

Warning signs

  • Water sitting in the sink and draining very slowly
  • Both sides of a double sink filling when only one is used
  • Smells rising from the plughole
  • Gurgling from the trap after use

Common causes

  • Fat, oil and grease congealing in the trap or waste pipe
  • Hair, soap and toothpaste build-up in bathroom basins
  • Food waste from washing up and dishwashers
  • Poor pipe falls trapping debris over time
  • Blockages further downstream in the stack
Our process

How we handle blocked sink & basin unblocking

01
Trap check
We remove and clean the U-bend first to isolate the problem.
02
Waste pipe clearance
Mini-jetter or hand snake used through the pipe.
03
Stack test
Water tested to confirm the blockage isn't further along.
04
Preventative advice
Guidance on strainers, degreasers and habits to prevent recurrence.

Kit we bring

  • Hand augers
  • Mini-jetter
  • Trap removal kit
  • Biological drain treatment

While you wait — do

  • Empty the cupboard under the sink
  • Place a bowl to catch water when the trap is removed

Please don't

  • Don't pour boiling water into plastic waste pipes
  • Don't use caustic soda on old lead pipework

Common questions

Will removing the trap flood my cupboard?
We place a bowl and towels before removing anything — nothing gets on your cupboard floor.
Is caustic drain cleaner safe to use?
Occasionally, and only on modern PVC waste pipes. On lead or copper it accelerates corrosion. We prefer biological treatments as a maintenance option.
